How much does it cost to join the HOA?

The current cost to be an HOA member is $85 per year. This gives you a voice to vote and bring your concerns to the association regarding safety, service from our local utility companies and issues that impact our community. You also get to meet your neighbors and be informed about local events and happenings. 


What are the rules regarding parking in the Palo del Amo Woods? 

California state law prohibits parking a vehicle in the same spot for more than 72-hours (the 72-hour maximum street parking law).

It is illegal to park on a marked or unmarked crosswalk or sidewalk, or partially block a sidewalk. Also, it is illegal to park in front of a driveway, within 3 feet of a sidewalk ramp for disabled persons, or in front of or on a curb that provides wheelchair access to a sidewalk. There is also no parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant (whether or not the the curb is painted red), between a safety zone and the curb, or at a red curb.

What is the speed limit?

The speed limit within Palo del Amo Woods is 25 mph unless otherwise posted. This is a California state law for all residential areas. The Sheriff will often issue warnings or tickets to drivers exceeding the 25 mph speed limit.

However, Palo del Amo Woods is filled with children of all ages and levels of awareness. Use caution and keep alert when driving on our streets. And please don’t text while driving.

We also have dozens of uncontrolled intersections. Please use caution and reduce your speed to 15 mph as recommended by the California Highway Patrol when approaching these intersections.

Who picks up the trash in Palo del Amo Woods? 

Universal Waste Systems (UWS) provides the trash Pick-Up service for Palo del Amo Woods. UWS provides separate Trash Barrels (Black), Recycle Barrels (Blue), and Green-Waste Barrels (Green). Please place your materials in the appropriate barrel. See the UWS website for information. 

Weekly Pick-Up occurs on Tuesdays, except when the trash collection day (Tuesday) falls on or after one of the following observed holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (i.e.; if the Holiday is on a Monday or Tuesday, Pick-Up will occur on Wednesday).

Curbside Holiday Tree disposal and recycling occurs on normal Pick-Up days (Tuesdays) for approximately two weeks following Christmas.

Bulky Item Pick-Up must be scheduled and will occur on normal Pick-Up days (limited to 2 Bulky Item Pick-Ups per year).

When is street sweeping in Palo del Amo Woods?

Street sweeping occurs on Wednesday morning. Some streets have parking restrictions on street sweeping days. However, to ensure that all streets within our community are kept clean, please ensure that your vehicle is moved off the street when street sweeping equipment is present.

When are the parkway trees trimmed?

Parkway trees are generally trimmed by L.A. County Public Works on three year (fast growth) or six year (slow growth) cycles depending on the growth rate of the tree species. Palm trees are trimmed every two years. The tree trimming is done per arboricultural standards for the health and safety of the trees and to provide vertical clearance over the sidewalk and roadway for pedestrians and motorists.

What are the rules around home based businesses?

Home based businesses are permitted when they are subordinate and secondary to the home as an accessory use in a residential neighborhood. The following are not permitted:

–  Operating any part of a home occupation in an accessory structure intended for parking
–  Displaying business signs
–  Having more than one non-resident employee.
