Good Morning Neighbors,
Here is an update from our President, Vande Garner from the LA Sheriff Department Meeting regarding some of the recent issues that have been affecting our neighborhood:
- They have given the homeless encampments on Lomita near Vermont a two week notice to leave the location. The Sheriffs are working with LAPD and Public Works to clean up the location.
- The Bridge area on Vermont Ave between 245th St and Ashbridge Lane; A woman with a shovel seen digging in the railroad track area has been reported to the sheriffs department. This person was previously talked to by the sheriffs department last year and asked not to return, however she is back. The sheriffs state they will work with BNSF on this issue.
- On the east side of Vermont just north of 245th St there is a broken chain link fence. Homeless are in this location. There is also car traffic stopping at this location and interacting with the homeless located in the railroad area. In addition, almost directly in front of this location is a utility box that has gang graffiti “HCC”. The Sheriff Department will look into this.
- Cooking stands located just north of Sepulveda on Vermont, and the one on Sepulveda just east of Vermont are blocking the sidewalks. This is a violation of the street vending ordinances. The Sheriff and the health department will look into this.
- We are looking to increase our graffiti removal team. Please let us know if you have time to assist with this project.
- We are looking for volunteers to be members of the board for the 2025-2026 year. Please email us if you can help.
Thank you,
Vande Garner
